Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 10.3% in April for a total of 23,225 compared to 21,062 vehicles sold in April, 2012. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 6.7% on sales of 88,127 compared to 82,611 sold in the first four months of 2012.

In April, best performing vehicles included

  • 5 Series, up 46.8% to 5,234 units 
  • 6 Series, up 48.1% to 760 units
  • 7 Series, up 68.8% to 871 units

BMW brand sales in North America up to April 2013



The BMW brand reported the best March ever with sales of 27,078 vehicles, an increase of 13.1% from the 23,940 sold in March 2012.

Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 5.4% on sales of 64,902 compared to 61,549 sold in the first three months of 2012.

In March, best performing vehicles included

  • Z4 Roadster, up 21.1% to 316 units
  • 6 Series, up 15.5% to 877 units
  • Sports Activity Vehicle segment (X3, X5 and X6 in particular), up 40% to 7,317 units

Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 0.5% in February for a total of 21,311 compared to 21,204 vehicles sold in February, 2012.

In February, best performing included

  • 5 Series, up 5.1% to 4,248 units
  • 6 Series, up 45.6% to 770 units
  • X5 Sports Activity Vehicle, up 21.9% to 3,931 units

Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 0.7% in January for a total of 16,513 compared to 16,405 vehicles sold in January, 2012.

In January, best performing vehicles include all of BMW’s light trucks. The X3, X5, and X6 Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) continued to show strong growth with sales up 41.3% to 6,469 units.

  • X3 – on sale in the U.S. for two years – is up 18.9% to 2,005 units
  • X5, up 56.5% to 4,084 units
  • X6 is up 34.8% to 380 units

Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 39.4% in December for a total of 37,399 compared to 26,834 vehicles sold in December, 2011. For the year, BMW brand sales were up 13.5% to 281,460 vehicles compared to 247,907 sold 2011.

For 2012, best performing vehicles included

  • 5 Series, up 10.3% to 56,798 units
  • 6 Series, up 110.3% to 8,208 units
  • X3, up 26.6% to 35,173 units

BMW reported the best month ever in November with sales of 31,213, an increase of 45% from the 21,521 vehicles sold in November, 2011. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 10.4% on sales of 244,061 compared to 221,073 sold in the first eleven months of 2011.

In November, best performing vehicles included

  • 5 Series, up 64.3% to 5,857 units
  • 6 Series, up 67.4% to 919 units
  • X3 SAV, up 50.5% to 4,172 units
  • X6 SAC, up 55.2% to 813 units

Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 20.9% in October for a total of 26,451 compared to 21,873 vehicles sold in October, 2011.  Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 6.7% on sales of 212,848 compared to 199,552 sold in the first ten months of 2011.

In October, best performing vehicles included the

  • 3 Series, up 25.6% to 9,729 units
  • 6 Series, up 86% to 770 units
  • X3 SAV, up 39.9% to 3,248 units
  • X6 SAV, up 41.3% to 671 units



Sales of BMW brand vehicles remained flat in September for a total of 21,761 compared to 21,750 vehicles sold in September, 2011.  Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 4.9% on sales of 186,397 compared to 177,679 sold in the first nine months of 2011.

  • the X1 SAV in its first full sales month, sold 1,570 units

Other best performing vehicles for the month include 

  • the 6 Series, up 80.2% to 609 units
  • the X3 SAV, up 63.7% to 3,034 units

Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 19.1% in August for a total of 16,835 compared to 20,815 vehicles sold in August, 2011. Year-to-date, the BMW brand remains up 5.6% on sales of 164,636 compared to 155,929 sold in the first eight months of 2011. In August, best performing vehicles included

  • 6 Series, up 118.8% to 453 units
  • X3, up 18.8% to 2,829 units
  • X5, up 21.2% to 3,568 units

August marked the first month of sales for the all wheel drive versions of the 3 Series Sedan (328i xDrive and 335i xDrive Sedans), as well as the versatile new X1 SAV.

  • 5 Series, up 32% to 5,700 units
  • 6 Series, up 50.5% to 843 units
  • 7 Series, up 158.9% to 1,696 units
